Line signs with Lyon

Line Røddik Hansen has signed a contract with French giants – Olympique Lyonnais. The contract is until June 2017.

Line has joined the 9-time defending French Champions from FC Rosengård (Malmö), with whom she won the Damallsvenskan (Swedish Top League) twice, and the Swedish Super Cup. She has also won Damallsvenskan with another major outfit Tyresö FF and played in 2014 UEFA Women’s Champions League final in Lisbon.

The Danish international earned bronze medal with Denmark at the 2013 UEFA Women’s European Championships in Sweden, and she has been captaining her country ever since. She has earned 104 caps and scored 13 goals for Denmark national team so far.

Line, who plays mostly as a left back or a left-footed center back, will wear shirt number 4 in Lyon.

The 23-year-old Cameroonian international, Ajara Nchout Njoya has signed a contract with Sundsvall DFF in Swedish Elitettan.

Coming from Western New York Flash in the National Women’s Soccer League in the USA, Ajara had an eventful 2015 marked by the debut participation of her national team in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada. Ajara featured in all 4 matches at the World Cup scoring against then-defending-champions Japan, and helping Cameroon to qualify for the round of 16 of the competition where they narrowly lost to China.

Prior to the US, Ajara played in top Russian clubs reaching quarterfinals of the 2012-2013 UEFA Women’s Champions League with FC Rossiyanka.
Quick and technical forward, Ajara will look to fulfill her true potential in Sweden as she intends to follow in the footsteps of her international teammate Gaelle Enganamouit who is currently on the books of Swedish champions – FC Rosengård.

Raquel Infante signed with Åland United in Finland. The 25-year-old central defender played in Italian Serie A last season with San Zaccaria before joining Benfica and playing 2015-2016 UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers last autumn.

The tall central back has earned 12 caps with Portugal National team. She has arrived in Mariehamn yesterday to join her new teammates for the pre-season training.
With Raquel in the squad, Åland will try to improve their defense, which conceded 33 goals last season, finishing 3rd in the Finnish top flight.

Based in the larger Paris area, Charly has been keenly interested in women’s football for the last ten years. Apart from regularly attending hundreds of matches, he has also been actively involved in coaching a third division women’s team in France. He is young, ambitious and passionate about developing new talents and improving the situation of established players in women’s football. Charly speaks several languages including French, Portuguese, Spanish, and English.

The award caps a fantastic year for Gaelle, who was the most dominant African player both for her club and country as she led Cameroon to the round of 16 at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada. She also became the 2015 best goalscorer of the Swedish top League – Damallsvenskan, helping unfancied Eskilstuna United to second place in the League and automatic qualification to the UEFA Women’s Champions League and earning herself a move to the powerhouse and current Swedish Champions – FC Rosengård in search of Champions League glory.

The 20-year old Cameroonian international midfielder Raissa Feudjio signed a contract with a top Finnish outfit Åland United.

Raissa spent last season with another club from Finland Merilappi United, which will make her adaptation easier this time. The young talent has already earned 45 caps with the Cameroon National Team, and has taken part in a number of high level international events including this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada, 2012 Olympic Games in London, and a few CAF African Women Championships.

Raissa will join her new club for their pre-season training camp in February. Despite her young age Raissa is a very skillful, intelligent, and experienced player. She will surely increase the stability in the center of Åland’s midfield and will help increase the team’s ball possession percentage as they aim to win 2016 Finland’s women’s premier league – Naisten Liiga.

The Cameroonian striker Gaelle Enganamouit, Cote D’Ivoire’s forward Ines N’Rehy and the Cameroon winger Aboudi Onguene, have all been nominated for CAF Best African Women Player of the Year 2015 Award.

The list was unveiled at a CAF press conference in Abuja, Nigeria on Monday, December 14. The three players represented by LTA are part of a 5-player shortlist.

All three players participated in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada with Gaelle and Aboudi leading Cameroon past the group stage in a historic first final tournament appearance. In addition to that, Gaelle completed a great season in Swedish Damallsvenskan helping Eskilstuna United to second in the League and becoming the best goalscorer in Sweden with 18 League goals. The “shooting queen” has recently joined powerhouse and reigning Swedish champions FC Rosengård to wrap up a highly successful 2015.

Aboudi and Ines are teammates at FC Rossiyanka and were key in their club’s runner-up finish in the Russian League this past season to secure Rossiyanka’s automatic qualification to the UEFA Women’s Champions League 2016-2017. The two of them combined for 11 goals in the League with Aboudi providing 6 and Ines contributing with 5 to help the team.

The winners of all the CAF 2015 Awards will be decided by voting by CAF Football Media Committees, and the winners will be announced at the Glo-CAF Awards Gala on 7th of January 2016 in Abuja, Nigeria.

Vero joined her new club last summer from 1. FFC Frankfurt with whom she won one of the most prestigious awards in women’s club football – UEFA Women’s Champions League. Unfortunately, she has been injured since she joined Bayern for pre-season following the World Cup in Canada. Finally, after three months out, she made her official debut last Friday in the League match at Bayer Leverkusen.

Vero came on as a sub in the 71st minute of the game, when the result was 0:3 to Bayern and recorded 20 minutes of action. The match finished 0:5, and after the match Vero was very happy that she played a few minutes after a long time out of competition. Following such a long injury, it’s extremely important to carefully manage her match fitness levels and playing time.

The quarterfinals draw will be held 27th of November in Nyon, Switzerland, and the other 6 clubs that have qualified for this stage are: Wolfsburg (GER), Slavia Praha (CZE), Lyon (FRA), the reigning champions – FFC Frankfurt (GER), Brescia (ITA), and Barcelona (ESP).

Caroline Seger will make a remarkable third consecutive appearance in the quarterfinals of the Champions League reaching the finals both in 2014 and 2015, unfortunately missing this year’s final in Berlin due to suspension as PSG succumbed to a narrow defeat to FFC Frankfurt.

The Cote D’Ivoire international won both 2015 Russian Cup and 2015 Russian League in the same season.

Zvezda-2005 Perm defended their Supreme Division title with a 5:0 home victory against Chertanovo on the last day of the season. Nahi joined Zvezda at the beginning of 2014 and won the league in her first year in Russia. This season she added the Russian Cup making it a double.

The second place in the top Russian League was deservedly won by FC Rossiyanka with two LTA players in the squad – Cote D’Ivoire international forward Ines N’Rrehy and Cameroon international winger Gabrielle Aboudi. They finished just two points behind the champions from Zvezda and have earned automatic qualification to the 2016-2017 UEFA Women’s Champions League.
