Refiloe wins WAFCON

Refiloe Jane has helped South Africa to win the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in their history

The Banyana Banyana edged past the hosts to be crowned Women’s African Cup of Nations 2022 champions tonight. They won 2-1 against Morocco in the final at the Prince Moulay Abdallah Stadium to lift their first ever title.

Jane played in every game for South Africa. They finished first in Group C and went undefeated throughout the tournament. The midfielder was named Player of the Match against Burundi and made the WAFCON Group stage Best XI.

Twelve countries took part in the tournament. LTA Agency represented six players from four of those countries that are:

Zambia of Barbra Banda was awarded the bronze medal.

Cameroon made it to the quarterfinals with Ajara Njoya, Aboudi Onguene, and Genevieve Ngo Mbeleck.

Ruth Aturo of Uganda played the group stage.

Rita Akaffou et Saratou Traore ont signé une prolongation de contrat avec Fatih Karagümrük

L’internationale ivoirienne Rita Akaffou et la malienne Saratou Traore ont rejoint le club de Super League féminine turque respectivement en novembre et décembre 2021. Elles ont très vite démontré leur jeu de qualité au sein de l’équipe et sont ainsi devenus des pièces maîtresses de l’équipe. Rita et Saratou ont aidé le club à terminer à la deuxième place du championnat cette saison. Les deux milieux de terrain joueront encore la prochaine saison avec les vice-championnes turques.

Georgia midfielder Tatiana Matveeva has joined Fatih Karagümrük of the Turkish Süper Lig

Matveeva moves to Karagümrük from Kryvbas in Ukrainian First League. Matveeva is not unfamiliar to the Turkish Women’s Football Super League, she played there before and won the league with Konak Belediyespor, Ataşehir Belediyespor, and Trabzonspor A.S.

Before Kyvbas, Tatiana played for Georgian club Nike Tbilisi where she won the league in 2020, Spain’s UDG Tenerife and Norvegian’s clubs Sandviken and Medkila.

The 31-year old midfielder also played for the Georgia national team that she captained several times and racked up 64 international caps with 9 goals.

Ajara Nchout Njoya fait partie des trois finalistes pour le titre de Joueuse Africaine de l’année 2022

Après une première liste de 30 nominées dévoilées le 19 juillet qui a été à la suite réduite a 10, la Confédération Africaine de football (CAF) a dévoilé l’identité des trois derniers finalistes de l’ensemble des catégories des CAF Awards 2022.

Ajara Nchout Njoya figure parmi les trois finalistes toujours en lice pour le titre de la Joueuse Africaine de l’année 2022. L’attaquante camerounaise a fait partir des trois finalistes pour la première fois de sa carrière en 2019.

La cérémonie CAF Awards aura lieu demain à Rabat au Maroc.

Spanish midfielder Veronica Boquete has extended her contract with ACF Fiorentina until 2023

The versatile midfielder scored three goals in ten games for Fiorentina last season, following her move from AC Milan in January 2022. 

Vero first moved to Italy in November 2020 from Utah Royals in the USA. She played her first Serie A matches with AC Milan shirt where she spent two seasons before joining Fiorentina. 

The 35-year-old experienced midfielder with vast experience from various clubs across different countries has also had great experience with Spain National team.

Refiloe Jane’s South Africa clinched a place in the final for their second Women’s Africa Cup of Nations  final in a row, where they will face Morocco 

Banyana Banyana made it through to the 2022  Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final after beating Zambia 1-0 in a tough semifinal in Casablanca – Morocco yesterday night. Refiloe captained the team and batlle during the 90 minutes of the semi-final.

South Africa will play host Morocco in the final on 23 July at the Price Moulay Abdallah Stadium in Rabat.

Hedvig Lindahl and Linda Sembrant of Sweden, as well as Spain’s Irene Paredes, qualified for the quarter-finals of UEFA Women Euro

Sweden claimed a place in the quarter-finals of the Euro after a 5-0 win over Portugal at the Venue Leigh Sports Village stadium, England. They finished the group stage as group C winners, having drawn (1-1) against the Netherlands in their opening game, they defeated Switzerland (2-1). Hedvig played all the group stage matches.

Spain qualified for the quarter-finals after a 1-0 win over Denmark to ensure thier finished as runners-up in Group B on Saturday.
Spain captain Irene Paredes and her team beat Finland 4-1 in their opening game and lost against Germany. Irene played all three games.

The semi-finals are due to take place from Wednesday 20 to Saturday 23, Spain will take on hosts England in the first of the day’s quarter-finals, and Sweden is due to take on 2nd ranked Group D on the last day.

South Africa reached the semi-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after earning a victory over Tunisia in their last eight encounters in Tunisia

Refiloe’s team also secured a place at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, due to be held in Australia and New Zealand.

The match took place at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah in Rabat, and pitted South Africa against Tunisia. Refiloe captained the team and played 90 minutes in their 1-0 victory.

The semi-finals are due to take place on Monday (July 18), with South Africa set to face Zambia and Nigeria due to take on hosts Morocco.

Ajara Nchout Njoya and Refiloe Jane make the 2022 CAF Awards shortlist

The initial list of 30 female players nominees for the Women’s Player of the Year category to the CAF Awards 2022 has been reduced to 10.

In the first list of nominees featured four players represented by LTA Agency:

· Ajara Nchout Njoya (Cameroon & Internazionale Milano)

· Gabrielle Onguene (Cameroon & CSKA Moscow) 

· Zenatha Coleman (Namibia & Fenerbahce)

· Refiloe Jane (South Africa & AC Milan)

Ajara and Refiloe who are among the last 10 nominees, are currently in Morocco for the African Cup of Nations and it is in the same country that will held the awards final ceremony on July 21 in Rabbat. Both players made the Total Energies WAFCON 2022 Group stage’s Best XI.

The CAF Awards 2022 will be held ahead of the final of Africa’s flagship women’s competitions, TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2022 scheduled to take place between 02 July – 23 July 2022. 

International midfielder Aivi Luik has joined Swedish outfit BK Häcken on a one-and-a-half-year deal 

Aivi is the second player represented by LTA Agency to sign with the club this season, following the Tanzanian Aisha Masaka.

The Matildas star has left Italy’s Serie A where she played with Pomigliano for a move to the Damallsvenskan outfit BK Häcken. For Pomigliano, she made 14 appearances and scored a goal during the 2021/2022 season, helping the Serie A newcomers to maintain their place in the league. Prior to Italy, she played in Spain for Sevilla.

Aivi’s first Swedish adventure was with IFK Kalmar in the 2018 season.

The experienced midfielder has played for many top clubs in more than eight different countries. At the international level, she represented Australia women’s national team at many tournaments, making over 30 appearances.
