LTA into Tokyo 2020 quarters

Sweden’s Hedvig Lindahl and Aivi Luik of Australia have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic women’s football tournament

After finishing top of their group on nine points, Sweden will face Japan tomorrow for a place in the semi-final while Australia will face New Zealand.

The Sweden side kicked off their campaign last week with a convincing 3-0 win over the World Cup champions United States. Thanks to a clean sheet made by Hedvig. In their second outing, they also beat Australia with Hedvig between the stick, before going on to win comfortably against Zealand.

The Matildas assured their place in the knockout stages after a valuable point in a goalless draw against the USA. Aivi Luik featured in Australia’s two first matches. A (2-1) win against New Zealand and a (4-2) defeat against de Sweden.

Spain and Equato-Guinean striker, Jade Boho has inked a one year deal with Swiss champions Servette FCCF where she will join Léonie Fleury also represented by LTA

The 34-year-old international striker has joined Women’s Super League champions Servette FCCF from EDF Logroño of Spain’s Liga Iberdrola. The Swiss club won the league last season and will compete in the UEFA Women Champion League this season. Jade scored 28 goals in 76 league appearances during the three seasons spent with Logroño and was Copa de la Reina Runner Up – 2019/20. Prior to Logrono, the experienced striker played with Madrid; Reading, Bristol Academy, Rayo Vallecano, Atlético Madrid and CFFTorrejón.

Jade won three consecutive leagues titles (2010, 2009, 2008) and a Copa de la Reina in 2008 with Rayo Vallecano. She won the 2012 AFCON with Equatorial Guinea, she won the 2004 UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship with Spain and also played in the 2004 FIFA U-19 Women’s World.

Zambia’s Barbra Banda make Olympics history with two successive hat-tricks tying the Olympics goal record in just 2 games against the Netherlands and China

The 21-year-old striker and team captain notched back-to-back hat tricks in Zambia’s first two group stage matches against the Netherlands (10-3 defeat) and China (4-4 ). She is the first woman in Games history to score two-hat tricks. she now holds the record for most Olympic goals by an African (men and women).

Banda’s second hattrick of the tournament catapulted her to the top of Tokyo’s scoring charts.

Thanks to Banda’s heroic efforts, the team has already broken the record for most Olympic goals by an African team in a single competition.

Zambia will play for a spot in the knockout rounds when they face off against Brazil on Tuesday.

Romanian national team defender Adina Giurgiu has signed a contract with FC Nordsjælland in Danish Women Top Division – Elitedivisionen

Adina moved to Denmark side FC Nordsjaelland from an Italy Serie A club Sassuolo. She spent three seasons, made 25 league games and netting three goals with Sassuolo.

Playing in Denmark will be the second country abroad where the 26-year old left-back will earn another big experience of her career.

Prior to Italy, she played in her country with Olimpia Cluj and CFF Clujana with whom she earned championships and cups as well as Champions League experiences.

Adina who has been capped more than 58 times with three goals for Romania is a key figure at the heart of the defence of the National Team.

LTA players debut Olympic games with outstanding performance: Hedvig Lindahl of Sweden, Barbra Banda of Zambia and Australian Aivi Luik have shone like stars on the first day of action at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games

Hedvig Lindahl kept a clean sheet as Sweden beat the United States 3-0. She is an experienced goalkeeper who is playing her fifth Olympiad. She is one of the most capped players of the tournament. Sweden is in Group G.

Banda who plays in China for Shanghai Shengli has become the first-ever female African footballer to score a hat-trick at Olympic Games. In their 10-3 loss against the Netherlands, the 21- year old striker was her team’s shining light – etched her name in the competition’s history books. Zambia is Africa’s only representative in the tournament. They are in Group F and it’s their debut at a global tournament.

Aivi Luik’s Australia who is in Group G beat New Zealand 2-1. Sevilla FC midfielder, Aivi play at a major tournament with the national team for the first time. Experienced and versatile player, she played 90 minutes to help her side to a nice debut. Australia will next face Sweden next?

Prolific Romanian forward Laura Rus marks her Úrvalsdeild (Iceland top division) debut a 28th-minute goal for Tindastóll

Laura scored a goal on her first match yesterday in Iceland top league- Úrvalsdeild as Tindastóll beat Fylkir 2-1 at home. She played the full 90 minutes of the Game week 11.

Established Romania striker, Laura arrived on Úrvalsdeild from a top Romanian club Fortuna Becicherecu Mic. She spent one year with Fortuna Becicherecu Mic and was named Romania’s best striker of the 2019/20 season.

One of the best players in Romania women’s football history, she brings with her a great deal of experience at both international and club level as she has already played in six different top-level championships Belgium, Italy, South Korea, Denmark, Cyprus and as well Romania and has won titles in all of them.

Laura has so far scored 27 goals in 59 appearances for her country’s National Team.

The 23-year old goalkeeper Alessia Piazza has signed with San Marino FC of Italian Series B

The young goalkeeper will join San Marino in the second division from a two-year spell with AC Milan where they finished the 2020-21 Serie A at the second position and secured the Champions League qualification for the first time in their history.

Alessia has spent most of her career in her country playing with clubs as Tavagnacco; Pink Sport Bari and Como she also had a stint with Lugano in Switzerland.

Marija Banušić has inked a one-year deal with AS Pomigliano in Italian Serie A

Sweden forward who spent the last six months at AS Roma has moved to Pomigliano, the newly-promoted Series A side where she will join Deborah Salvatori Rinaldi, both of them represented by LTA.

The 2020/21 Italian cup winner, Banušić played three cup matches to help Roma secured their first-ever trophy in their club history. She also featured in five league matches and was the protagonist of a beautiful overhead kick goal scored against Inter.

Prior to Italy, the 25-year old striker played for French side Montpellier HSC, Chelsea in England, Chinese outfit Beijing, and a number of clubs in her home country winning the League with Linköpings.

Banušić has won league titles in both Sweden and England and added the Cup title in Italy to this impressive palmares. She has also been capped seven times by Sweden’s Women’s National Team after leaving a stellar record with youth national team formations of the country.

It is LTA Agency’s second player to be transferred this Month to AS Pomigliano.

Italian international striker Deborah Salvatori Rinaldi has joined newly promoted Serie A club AS Pomigliano for 2021-2022 season

Salvatori has signed for Pomigliano from another Italian First Division side AC Milan, where she played 19 matches, scored three goals, and registered one assist in two seasons. In 2020/21 season, she helped AC Milan to end the league in second place in Serie A to clinch Champions League qualification for the first time in their history.

The 29 -year-old has experience with many clubs in Italy. She previously played for Hellas Verona, Fiorentina, Florentia, and Südtirol. She also had a stint with RCD Espanyol Barcelona in Spain.

The 20-year-old Ghana international midfielder Grace Asantewaa has inked a two-year contract with Spanish topflight side Real Betis Féminas

Young Ghanaian midfielder who will play the next two seasons for the green-and-white side of Sevilla, comes from a first Primera Iberdrola’s experience with EDF Logroño whom she joined two years ago from Ampem Darkoa Ladies in her country.

During her time with EDF Logroño, she featured in 45 league matches and scored four goals. She helped the club to their historic first qualification to the Spanish Cup final in 2019/20 season.

Ghana women’s international player, Asantewaa has already earned 10 caps and scored 2 goals for Ghana’s Senior Women’s National Team.
