LTA players reach the Swedish Cup final

Australian midfielder Aivi Luik and Tanzanian striker Aisha Masaka have made it to the Swedish Cup Final with BK Häcken after beating Hammarby 7-6 on penalties

BK Häcken reached the Cup final after winning a penalty shootout 7-6 after their semi-final finished 1-1 at the end of extra time on Sunday, March 31.

Aivi played the first half of the tense match, which ended with a 1-1 stalemate in extra time.

BK Häcken will play Piteå at Bravida Arena on May 1st in the Swedish Cup final.

Barbra Banda nets two goals to help send Zambia to the final round of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda scored a brace to help Zambia win 2-0 over Morocco to send them to the 2024 Olympics, their second consecutive Olympic women’s football tournament. 

After a 1-2 defeat at home to Morocco five days ago in the first leg of the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifiers, Zambia earned their qualification this morning after beating Morocco 3-2 on aggregate.

Banda’s penalty in the first period of extra-time secured Zambia a 2-0 win. Banda scored the first goal seven minutes before halftime and kept her team in the tie to sent the match to extra time.

Having made their historic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Zambia joins 12 other teams at the Paris 2024 Olympics and will be in Group B alongside the USA, Germany, and Australia.

The Olympic women’s football tournament will begin on Thursday, July 25, 2024.

Mahira Ali’s Tutankhamun FC and Moussa Zouwairatou’s Wadi Degla FC are the finalists of the 2024 Egyptian Women’s Cup

The two LTA players, Egyptian midfielder Mahira Ali of Tutankhamun FC and Cameroonian striker Moussa Zouwairatou of Wadi Degla, will face each other in the Egyptian Women’s Cup final.

Both clubs reached the cup final with a brilliant performance in the semi-final and with the help of LTA players.

Moussa scored a goal and made an assist to help Wadi Degla beat Amireya 2-0 in the semi-final.

Mahira played full 90 minutes as Tutankhamun defeated Zed FC 6-1.

Ajara et Aby ont remporté la troisième place de la Coupe d’Arabie après avoir aidé Al-Qadsiah à vaincre Al Ittihad lors de la victoire aux tirs au but.

Un premier titre avec Al-Qadsiah pour Ajara et Aby. Opposé à Al-Ittihad ce jeudi en finale de la Coupe d’Arabie Saoudite, Al-Qadsiah a gagné 5-4 aux tirs au but au terme d’un score nul et vierge après des prolongations (0-0). Ajara a joué l’intégralité du match.

Experienced goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl has signed a short-term contract with Eskilstuna United in Elitettan

Veteran goalkeeper who has played 189 international matches with Sweden, winning two Olympic silvers and two World Cup bronzes with Sweden, has joined Eskilstuna United from Djurgården. Hedvig has been handed squad number 12.

She played and won titles for such big clubs as Linköping, Kopparbergs/Göteborgs FC, Kristianstad, Chelsea, Wolfsburg, and Atlético Madrid.

The shot-stopper has the distinction of being the first goalkeeper to make the most international appearances for the Sweden national team, both for men and women players.

She is considered one of the world’s best shot-stoppers, as she was in the 2017 FIFPro Women’s World Best XI. Lindahl was ten times the Swedish women’s goalkeeper of the year. She won the 2015 and 2016 She won the 2015 and 2016 Sweden’s Best Female Football Player award ( Diamantbollen).

Tanzania striker Clara Luvanga has lifted the 2023/24 Saudi Women’s Premier League title with Al-Nassr

Al-Nassr wrapped up the championship title on Friday after beating Al Hilal 4-2 at home with two goals scored by Clara.

With three matches to the end of the 2022–23 campaign, Al-Nassr clinches a second back-to-back Saudi Women’s Premier League title.

Clara played a key role in helping the reigning champions successfully defend their crown. With 11 goals already scored, she is the team’s best scorer and would probably be the league’s best scorer after the three games to spare.

Spain and former Dux Logrono striker, Olga Garcia, has announced her retirement

Former FC Barcelona, Levante UD, Atlético Madrid, and Dux Logroño striker Olga Garcia has announced her retirement from football at the age of 31.

Olga spent the last four seasons of her career with Dux Logroño, joining from Atlético Madrid. 

Olga who has been at Dux Logroño since 2020, started her career at Barcelona where she became one of the club’s most prolific goalscorers with 53 goals in 87 matches (2010–2013 seasons). Then, she spent two seasons on loan with Levante before going back to Barcelona where she left for Atlético Madrid in 2018.

She has trained in the lower categories of FC Barcelona, which she joined in the 2004–2005 campaign, until reaching the first team in the 2010–2011 season. She also went through La Penya Blac i Brava La Roca (2001-2002) and FC Mataró (2002-2004).

She spent all her football career in Spain, where she won two league cups, four Copa de la Reina, and five Copa Catalunya with FC Barcelona.

With the Spain national team, Olga played 32 matches from 2015 to 2019, winning the 2017 Algarve Cup and the 2018 Cyprus Cup. She also played for the under-17s and under-19s.

Spain international midfielder Veronica Boquete has advanced to the 2023/24 Italian Cup final with Fiorentina after beating Juventus

To book their spot in the 2023/24 Italian Cup final, Fiorentina beat Juventus 4-1 on aggregate intheir semi final matches.
Vero scored a penalty as Fiorentina defeated Juventus 3-1 in the Coppa Italia semi-final second leg on Saturday. In their first leg, she played 90 minutes in their 1-0 win in Florence.

Fiorentina’s captain, Vero, will play a final of the Italian cup for the second time. She featured in the 2020–2021 Cup final with AC Milan, with whom she was playing before joining Fiorentina.

The final is Fiorentina against Roma on May 25 or 26.

Club avec lequel elle a remporté successivement deux titres de championne de Cote d’Ivoire (saisons 2021-2022 et 2022-2023). Elle participe également à la Ligue des Champions Féminine de la CAF 2023 avec Athlético Club Abidjan. Gnaly a aussi joué avec le club  Africa Sports un autre club de son pays natale et fait partie de l’équipe nationale de Côte d’Ivoire.

Zambian international striker Barbra Banda joins Orlando Pride of the USA National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in a record deal for the women’s game.

By signing for Orlando Pride from Shanghai Shengli, Barbra (23) has become the most expensive female player in the history of the NWSL.

Currently in her fifth season in China, Barbra scored 16 goals and made five assists as Shanghai finished Chinese Women’s Super League runners-up in 2023. Previously, she had an outstanding start to her career in Shanghai as she scored 18 goals in 13 matches in her first season for the club, thus winning the Golden Boot and helping the team onto the bronze medals in the 2020 season.

One of the most exciting strikers in the world over the last few years, Barbra began her career with Zambian side Green Buffaloes before moving on to EDF Logroño in Spain in 2018, becoming the first Zambian woman footballer to play in Europe. She scored 15 goals in 28 league matches in Spain’s Primera Division.

Having debuted with Zambia Senior Women’s National Team at the age of 16 in 2016, Barbra gained world-wide recognition with her incredible goal-scoring run at international competitions such as the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the 2022 COSAFA Women’s Championship, and finally the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand last summer. Zambia’s captain today, she continues the quest for the 2024 Paris Olympics qualification with the Copper Queens, as they have now advanced to the last qualifying round.

It was during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 that her star-making performances began. She showcased her extraordinary scoring prowess by netting successive hat-tricks in group-stage matches against both the Netherlands and China, becoming the first player in Olympic history to realize such an achievement.

At the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Barbra etched her name in the history by netting the 1,000th goal in the tournament’s illustrious history, helping Zambia record their first ever victory at a FIFA Women’s World Cup. She capped last year by being named the IFFHS World’s Best International Goal Scorer in 2023.
Barbra was also featured on the CAF FIFPro Team of the Year for 2023 and was on the podium among the three finalists nominated for the 2023 CAF Women’s Player of the Year award.
