Gaelle Enganamouit became the first ever Cameroonian to win Glo-CAF African Women’s Player of the Year Award for 2015.
The prestigious award ceremony held in the Nigerian capital Abuja, marked the end of a great year for African football and featured a number of recognized international stars of past and present including Jay Jay Okocha, Yaya Toure, and the newly crowned African male player of the year – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The award caps a fantastic year for Gaelle, who was the most dominant African player both for her club and country as she led Cameroon to the round of 16 at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada. She also became the 2015 best goalscorer of the Swedish top League – Damallsvenskan, helping unfancied Eskilstuna United to second place in the League and automatic qualification to the UEFA Women’s Champions League and earning herself a move to the powerhouse and current Swedish Champions – FC Rosengård in search of Champions League glory.
Gaelle’s Cameroon international teammate, Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene, also represented by LTA, made the final short list of 3 best players in Africa for 2015.
