Ghana’s Comfort Yeboah and Nancy Amoh Claim the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Bronze with a Penalty Shootout Win Over South Africa
Ghana and Ampem Darkoa FC’s young players, Comfort Yeboah and Nancy Amoh, represented by the LTA Agency, helped their country clinch the bronze medal at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The third-place match was played at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Friday night. Ghana and South Africa had ended regulation time locked at 1-1 after a tense 90 minutes; the tie went into a penalty shootout, where Nancy scored the winning penalty to confirm the Black Queens’ (4-3) triumph.
Both young midfielders who competed at the WAFCON for the first time established themselves as vital parts of the Black Queens’ side.
Comfort, still just 18, was one of Ghana’s most consistent performers across WAFCON 2024. As her first taste of major tournament football, she featured in all six of her nation’s fixtures in the tournament.
Nancy, 19, substituted in the midfield for Ghana in three matches, including the third-place match, which they won thanks to the dramatic penalty she scored to secure a 4-3 shootout victory against South Africa.
LTA Agency congratulate Comfort Yeboah and Nancy Amoh on this achievement.
