Spain won the silver medal in an exciting European championship course, which ended in the final where they lost to England in a penalty shootout on July 27th in Basel.

The UEFA Women’s Euro 2025, held in Switzerland from July 2nd to the 27th, will remain historic for Spain, which won a Euro semi-final for the first ever time and advanced to the Women’s European Championship final.

Irene and Spain won the semi-final by defeating Germany 1-0 in extra time to qualify for the final against England. They had five victories from six at EURO 2025.

Irene played and captained five matches, from the second group stage match to the Women’s European Championship final, contributing to one goal. Her impact was undeniable on Spain’s second-place finish at the Euro 2025. The 34-year-old defender played a crucial role in solidifying Spain’s backline, a brilliance that earned her a spot in the tournament’s best XI.
