Kirsten Van De Ven retires as champion

The 31-year-old midfielder decided to hang up her boots after winning the 2015-2016 Eredivisie title with FC Twente following 3:0 win at PEC Zwolle in the last championship game on Friday.

Prior to joining FC Twente in January, Kirsten spent highly successful 6 years playing in the Swedish top flight for FC Rosengård and Tyresö FF where she won several trophies including the Damallsvenskan Championship, Swedish Cup, and Swedish Super Cup. Her impressive career includes three seasons with Florida State University women’s soccer team in the U.S. and two seasons with another Eredivisie club – Willem II Tilburg.

As a key member of the Netherlands women’s national football team, Kirsten represented her country at the 2009 and 2013 UEFA European Women’s Championships reaching the semifinals in Finland in 2009, as well as at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada where she scored goals against hosts Canada and defending world champions Japan.

“I’m very proud of what I have achieved. From the moment I made the decision I made, I realize how beautiful my career was and what I’ve experienced in different countries over the years,” she said in a statement.

Line Røddik Hansen won the “double” with Olympique Lyonnais in her first season in France.

Line played 90 minutes in the last League match drawn against Montpellier 1:1 as Lyon won the French championship title for the record 10th time. She has also played in every Cup game until the final in Grenoble last week also featuring Montpellier, which her club won 2:1. It is the 5th double in a row completed by Lyon.

Prior to joining the French Champions, the Danish international played for FC Rosengård (Malmö), with whom she won the Damallsvenskan (Swedish Top League) twice and the Swedish Super Cup. Line has won another Damallsvenskan title while at Tyresö FF, with whom she played in the 2014 UEFA Women’s Champions League final in Lisbon.

LTA Agency are pleased to announce signing a representation agreement with Spanish international Vicky Losada.

The 25-year-old midfielder and former FC Barcelona captain, currently plays for Arsenal Ladies with whom she won the 2016 FA Cup just last week by defeating Chelsea Ladies at the Wembley final. While at Barcelona she won four Leagues and three Spanish Cups.

Vicky also played in the opening match for her country at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup held in Canada where she scored Spain’s first ever World Cup goal against Costa Rica.

Portuguese national team striker, Carolina Mendes has signed with Djurgårdens IF (Stockholm) in the Swedish Top League – Damallsvenskan.

The 28-year-old comes from one of the top teams in the Russian Premier League, FC Rossiyanka and brings with her, her vast international experience.
Prior to her time in the Russian league, Carolina played for UD Ponte Frielas and SU 1º de Dezembro in the Portuguese National Championship. She subsequently moved to Spain, where she played for UE L’Estartit and SPC Llanos de Olivenza in Spain’s Primera División. She later played for ASD Riviera di Romagna in Italy’s Serie A.

Sweden participated in a mini-tournament featuring four teams vying for a spot in the summer Olympics in Rio.

They toppled Norway and Switzerland in their first two winning games and faced Netherlands in a nail-biting performance in the final Olympics Qualifier match.

LTA Players, Seger, Sempan, and Hedvig played 90 min, Olivia started and Emma came in as a sub in the second half. The final match against Netherlands proved to be a struggle but the team managed to equalize when Schough capitalized on the defensive’s mistake to score in the first half of the game. The match ended in a tough 1-1 draw but the crucial point was enough for Sweden to qualify for the summer Olympics.

Sweden will join France and Germany in the summer Olympics, taking the final spot at the 12 team competition. They continue to maintain their tradition of participating in every Women’s Olympic Football Tournament since the competition was created in 1996.

The Danish international earned bronze medal with Denmark at the 2013 UEFA Women’s European Championships in Sweden, and she has been captaining her country ever since. She has earned 104 caps and scored 13 goals for Denmark national team so far.

Line, who plays mostly as a left back or a left-footed center back, will wear shirt number 4 in Lyon.

The 23-year-old Cameroonian international, Ajara Nchout Njoya has signed a contract with Sundsvall DFF in Swedish Elitettan.

Coming from Western New York Flash in the National Women’s Soccer League in the USA, Ajara had an eventful 2015 marked by the debut participation of her national team in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada. Ajara featured in all 4 matches at the World Cup scoring against then-defending-champions Japan, and helping Cameroon to qualify for the round of 16 of the competition where they narrowly lost to China.

Prior to the US, Ajara played in top Russian clubs reaching quarterfinals of the 2012-2013 UEFA Women’s Champions League with FC Rossiyanka.
Quick and technical forward, Ajara will look to fulfill her true potential in Sweden as she intends to follow in the footsteps of her international teammate Gaelle Enganamouit who is currently on the books of Swedish champions – FC Rosengård.

Raquel Infante signed with Åland United in Finland. The 25-year-old central defender played in Italian Serie A last season with San Zaccaria before joining Benfica and playing 2015-2016 UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers last autumn.

The tall central back has earned 12 caps with Portugal National team. She has arrived in Mariehamn yesterday to join her new teammates for the pre-season training.
With Raquel in the squad, Åland will try to improve their defense, which conceded 33 goals last season, finishing 3rd in the Finnish top flight.

Based in the larger Paris area, Charly has been keenly interested in women’s football for the last ten years. Apart from regularly attending hundreds of matches, he has also been actively involved in coaching a third division women’s team in France. He is young, ambitious and passionate about developing new talents and improving the situation of established players in women’s football. Charly speaks several languages including French, Portuguese, Spanish, and English.

The prestigious award ceremony held in the Nigerian capital Abuja, marked the end of a great year for African football and featured a number of recognized international stars of past and present including Jay Jay Okocha, Yaya Toure, and the newly crowned African male player of the year – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The award caps a fantastic year for Gaelle, who was the most dominant African player both for her club and country as she led Cameroon to the round of 16 at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada. She also became the 2015 best goalscorer of the Swedish top League – Damallsvenskan, helping unfancied Eskilstuna United to second place in the League and automatic qualification to the UEFA Women’s Champions League and earning herself a move to the powerhouse and current Swedish Champions – FC Rosengård in search of Champions League glory.
