Zambia captain and Orlando Pride striker, Barbra Banda has been nominated for the 2024 Women’s Ballon d’Or award
Banda has made history as the first Zambian player nominated for the FIFA Women’s Ballon d’Or award.
She is the first African player represented by LTA Agency in the history to be nominated for this prestigious award.
The Copper Queens captain is coming off incredible years for both clubs and the national team as one of the most prolific goalscorers in the game.
Since joining the Orlando Pride in March, Banda already counts 12 goals in 14 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) games. She is currently second-best in the NWSL goalscoring record. She was the first player in NWSL history to score 10 goals in 10 matches. Her performance has helped Orlando Pride maintain their undefeated run through the first 18 NWSL matches, a record for Orlando.
The 24-year-old star has marked her second consecutive participation in the recent 2024 Olympics with four goals scored and an assist, including a hat trick against Australia. With this treble, Banda became the first woman player to score three hat tricks at the Olympic games. Her career Olympic goal total currently sits at 10 all-time, tied for fourth in career Olympic goal-scoring history.
Before her current club, Banda played with Shanghai Shengli with that, she netted 16 goals and five assists in 2023. In total, Banda scored 41 career goals across 52 career games in Shanghai.
The winner of the award will be unveiled on Monday, October 28 during the awards gala at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
Banda is the fourth player that we are representing to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or award after Veronica Boquete, Irene Paredes, and Caroline Seger (represented before).
LTA Agency congratulate Banda on this historic nomination and wish her good luck.
