Romanian international striker, Laura Roxana Rus (also known as Lala) has inked a contract with the Romanian club Fortuna Becicherecu Mic
Lala, 32, started playing football quite late at the age of 16 after switching from handball. In the beginning, she played for the Romanian club Pandurii Târgu Jiu (2004-2007). Impressing with her talent, hard work and determination only after a year she was called up by the Romanian National Team in 2005.
In 2007 she signed her first contract abroad in Spain with Sporting Huelva where she spent four years. Following that, Lala has amassed an impressive record of top clubs in different countries for which she had played: Cyprus (Apollon Limassol), Denmark (Fortuna Hjørring), South Korea (Suwon FMC and Icheon Daekyo WFC), Italy (Sassuolo and Hellas Verona) and Belgium (RSCA Anderlecht).
She joined RSCA Anderlecht in 2019 and went on to win two trophies in one season: the Belgian Women’s Super League 2019/20 and BeNe Cup 2020. Lala played 15 matches and scored 13 goals for the Belgian powerhouse.
The experienced striker holds many other titles: Cyprus League, Cup and Super Cup winner, Romanian Cup winner, and Denmark League champion. She also won the best goal scorer titles in Romania, Cyprus, South Korean WK-League, and most notably the UEFA Women’s Champions League (2012/13).
One of the images of the Romanian National Team over the last ten years, Lala is returning home to continue to play and to serve as a role model for many young aspiring female players who would like to get involved in football.
