Spain international defender Irene Paredes has joined Liga Iberdrola champions FC Barcelona for two seasons
The 30-year-old centre back has joined Spanish powerhouse FC Barcelona having left Paris Saint-Germain after a historic season in which she helped them to their maiden Division 1 Féminine trophy. Paredes has enjoyed a successful five-year stint with PSG, winning a Cup title in addition to the first-ever league title. She was also three-time Ligue runner-up (2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20). PSG captain, she scored 13 goals and played more than 100 games for the club during her stay in the French capital.
Prior to her French experience, she played with Athletic Bilbao with whom she won her first league title in 2016.
Spain national team captain, Paredes has made 80 international appearances for her country scoring nine goals. Considered one of the best defenders in the world, Irene is a powerful player who is especially good in the air.
