Paredes through to Nations League final
Defender Irene Paredes and Spain advanced to the 2025 Nations League Final with a 5-0 aggregate score over Sweden in the semifinals
The defending champions and world No. 1, Spain will next face Germany, world No. 5, in this Nations League final.
Veteran defender Irene Paredes captained Spain for the entire ninety minutes in each leg of the two UEFA Women’s Nations League semifinals.
An easy 4-0 first-leg win against Sweden was followed by a 1-0 triumph in the second leg, securing Spain’s spot in the UEFA Women’s Nations League final.
The two-match 2025 Nations League championship will kick off on November 28th in Germany, with Spain hosting the second leg on December 2nd.
Irene and Spain will play their consecutive UEFA Women’s Nations League final after winning the inaugural one last year against France.
It will be Irene’s fourth final with Spain in almost three years. Spain won the World Cup final against England in 2023, won the Nations League final against France in 2024, and finished second in the 2025 European Championship against England.
