The International South African defender, Nothando Vilakazi has signed a contract with Spanish outfit EDF Logroño for the 2020-2021 season
The Banyana Banyana defender comes from a top division club in her country, TUT Pretoria with which she has won the last Sasol Women’s League.
Prior to TUT Pretoria, she spent a stint with Lithuanian champions Gintra Universitetas that she joined on April 2019 from South Africa’s Palace Super Falcons.
She bagged four titles of Sasol League National Championship and played in the biggest club football competition for women, as she reached the preliminary round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League with Gintra Universitetas.
The 32-year-old left-back counts 139 caps with eight goals for South African Women’s National Team “Banyana Banyana” that she has represented in many high international competitions like the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 as well as in London in 2012. She also won three COSAFA Women’s Championship of 2008, 2017 and 2018, the Baltic Women’s League of 2019, was runners up in the 2018 and 2012 African Women’s Championship.
Nothando is an experienced, fast, disciplined football player with good technique, so it is no surprise that she continues with her career in sunny Spain.
