29 Jul 2021

Sweden's Hedvig Lindahl and Aivi Luik of Australia have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic women's football tournament

After finishing top of their group on nine points, Sweden will face Japan tomorrow for a place in the semi-final while Australia will face New Zealand.

The Sweden side kicked off their campaign last week with a convincing 3-0 win over the World Cup champions United States. Thanks to a clean sheet made by Hedvig. In their second outing, they also beat Australia with Hedvig between the stick, before going on to win comfortably against Zealand.

The Matildas assured their place in the knockout stages after a valuable point in a goalless draw against the USA. Aivi Luik featured in Australia’s two first matches. A (2-1) win against New Zealand and a (4-2) defeat against de Sweden.

LTA Agency wish good luck to Hedvigh and Aivi for the tournament’s next stage.
