Irene progresses to the FIFA World Cup semis

Spain and Irene Paredes have made history as they have reached the World Cup semi-finals for the first time
Spain sent the finalists of the last edition of the Women World Cup 2019 out of the competition. They reached their first Women’s World Cup semi-final after beating the Netherlands 2-1 after extra time in Wellington.
Irene played the full match to help her nation get to a semi-final of a World Cup for the first time in just three participations, with Irene taking part in each of those.
Since its debut in Canada 2015, Spain team had never won a knock-out match at a World Cup before defeating Switzerland in the round of 16 to set up the meeting with the Netherlands.
Spain and Irene will play the 2023 Women World Cup semi-final first match on Tuesday, August 15th, against Sweden.
