Following successful spells in England and Germany, the Swedish international goalkeeper, Hedvig Lindahl has decided to continue her brilliant football career in Spain with Atlético de Madrid through to the summer of 2022
The recently-crowned Bundesliga champion and German Cup winner with VfL Wolfsburg, Hedvig brings her incredible international experience to the Spanish powerhouse and three-time League champions Atlético de Madrid.
Prior to VfL Wolfsburg, Hedvig played 5 years with Chelsea FC in England. She spent five seasons in the FA Women’s Super League winning two League Championships and two FA Cup titles in the process. She also won cups in her native country while playing for Linköpings FC (Svenska Cupen 2006, 2008). She has qualified to the ongoing quarterfinals of the 2019/20 UEFA Women’s Champions League with VfL Wolfsburg and reached the semi-final stage of the same competition on two occasions with Chelsea in 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons.
Hedvig is Sweden’s (Female and Male) most capped goalkeeper with 169 appearances for her country. She has featured in four FIFA World Cups and four Olympic Games and also in multiples European Championships Finals.
The star’s impressive performances between the goals have won her numerous awards. She was named Swedish Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year on eight occasions and the Best Female Footballer in her country on two occasions. With her national team, Hedvig won a silver medal and two bronze medals at FIFA World Cups including the most recent World Cup in France 2019, two bronze medals in European Championships, as well as one Olympic silver medal in the most recent Olympic Games staged in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2016.
