Zambia captain Barbra Banda has been nominated for the 2024 Best FIFA Women’s Player Award
Orlando Pride striker Banda is among 16 nominees for the 2024 Best FIFA Women’s Player award.
The 24-year-old, who recently won the BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year and finished 13th among a select group of outstanding players touted for the 2024 Women’s Ballon d’Or, is also a contender for two other prestigious awards. The 2024 CAF Woman Footballer of the Year and the 2024 FIFA Awards’ Best Women’s Player awards.
Being nominated for four major awards in one year is a sign of greatness.
Banda is nominated for finishing as the joint-second top scorer at the Paris 2024 Olympics, scored a hat-trick against Australia at the Paris 2024 Olympics and scored 12 goals in her first 12 appearances for Orlando Pride in the 2024 US National Women’s Soccer League.
Overall, she scored 17 goals in 25 league games since joining her team in March from Shanghai Shengli. Banda helped Orlando win their first-ever league title and was selected in the NWSL XI of the season. She was also nominated NWSL Championship MVP.
