Clara joins Washington Spirit
Tanzania international forward Clara Luvanga has signed a four-year contract with Washington Spirit through 2029
The Saudi women’s Premier League top scorer has inked a four-year deal with NWSL top-flight club Washington Spirit, becoming one of the first Tanzanian players to play in the USA league.

Having already turned several African female footballers from various countries into pioneers in different foreign leagues, today a new chapter is written with Clara. With this transfer, the 21-year-old forward will become the first Tanzanian player in NWSL history. She joins Alimata Belem at the Washington Spirit, alongside several other players represented by our agency in the NWSL.
Clara moved to the Washington Spirit after standout three seasons with Al Nassr. The 2025/26 Saudi Arabian Golden Boot winner, she finished the season with 24 goals and was instrumental in Al Nassr’s three consecutive league titles, which included the Saudi Women’s Cup, the Saudi Women’s Super Cup, and the Saudi Women’s Premier Challenge Cup. Clara finished as the tournament’s top scorer and assisted Al Nassr in winning the 2026 WAFF Women’s Clubs Championship.
She was, however, adept at providing energy and goals, offering the team a different look than other forwards in the club.
She came up through Yanga Princess (Tanzania) and inked her first professional contract back in 2023 with the Spanish second division side Dux Logroño. She made her professional debut in a Dux Logroño shirt on August 30 against UDL and helped them secure a 7-0 victory. She went on to play six games and score two goals before leaving the club to join Al Nassr.
Clara led the scoring in qualification for the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup with ten goals and has represented Tanzania at the under-17, under-20, and senior international levels.
The Spirit currently sit in second place in the NWSL standings, with eight regular-season matches remaining.
