Leandra signs with Gintra

The 28-year- old South African midfielder, Leandra Smeda has inked her first international contract with Lithuanian Champions FK Gintra-Universitetas

Leandra is a new player who has just signed a representation agreement with LTA Agency. She is the first South African to join the large list of talented international women’s players represented around the world by LTA Agency.

The versatile midfielder will join Lithuanian giants Gintra from the UWC Ladies (University of Western Cape) in the Sasol Women’s League with whom she has been the Sports Women of the Year in 2014. She has also won the same title with the CPUT in 2013, 2011 and 2010. Leandra is a good player who is comfortable with the ball on both feet and can play on either side of the field, or in the middle.

The experienced Banyana Banyana midfielder has already amassed 74 caps and scored 19 goals for her country. In her playing career, the winner of the 2017 Cosafa Women’s championship, Smeda, has already featured in two Olympic Games and three African Women’s Championship tournaments. She also played the 2018 Cyprus Women’s Cup and during the recent African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, she scored two goals and helped her country to be between the seven last qualifiers nations of this tournament which will be held in Ghana from next November 17.
